Imagine this: A nautical wedding on a golf course.  The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades has to be one of the choicest spots to tie the knot.  This world renowned course is where Jennifer and Sterling did just that.  The yellow/gray/navy scheme echoes through out each scene pulling together the day so beautifully.  Don't you adore the bouquet, a combo of China Mums, Dahlias and Billy Balls? Bravo to shooter Robert Evans for the detailed and wonderfully composed work here . . . .

This light-filled work by Taralynn Lawton is in a word, stunning.  She got hold of me a few months back about doing an editorial with my gowns.  Paired up with her sort of dream-like photography I pictured earth angels--she pictured the wildflowers picking each bouquet herself enroute the day of the shoot.  The idea of bucolic surroundings alongside some chic gowns we thought could be inspiring to all those brides going for the toned down wedding.  Does the backdrop of trees, a babbling brook and open fields sound like the perfect wedding locale . . . .?

Phaedra
All over tulle dress with angel sleeves and shirred lace bodice.  Skirt is bordered in Chantilly lace.

 Odette
White tulle and chantilly lace dress with shirred tulle bodice has aysemmetrical neckline and handmde silk florals. 

1930s Allover Lace Dress

This is an authentic 1930s vintage gown given to me by a friend who married in 1980 (It was considered vintrage even back then) She thought I might like to cut up and reuse the lace in one of my creations.  I don't think so.  This gown has too much cache with it's cathedral train and Dolman sleeves to become anything other than what it is.  Since it is truly one of it's kind, it stays in my vintage collection intact.  It can however be a reproduced with your own personal touches added . . . . .

Silk Chiffon and charmeuse gown with butterfly sleeves of tea-dyed lace and tulle tie front, accented with a silk dupioni rose. A row of covered buttons closes down the back of the gown. Falls into a sweep train. Easy to wear and as comfortable as a nightgown. Lined in silk charmeuse.

I've waited so long to see Melancholia and was double awed once I laid eyes on Manon Rasmussen's delectably whipped confection in white tulle for Kirsten Dunst who plays Justine.  What a dress this is with a ruched bolero and shirred bodice; I sat studying the way it moved, spun and floated through what was supposed to be the happiest day of Justine's life (character Dunst plays).  Dunst is superb at carrying off looking great while feeling like she wants to jump off the planet which by the way is basically what Lars Von Trier is trying to get through to us in this disturbing but superb film about the collision of a rogue planet called, Melancholia crashing into earth.

To me weddings that have that cozy feeling of just two people are some of the most romantic and touching.  Liv and Magnus are from Norway and booked photographer Samantha Lauren to shoot their intimate Norwegian ceremony in Manhattan. They've been together 12 years and both have just graduated from Medical school. Their trip to New York City was one slated for marriage, romance, and celebration. The small and intimate ceremony was entirely in Norwegian. Afterwards the photographer, Liv and Magnus were driven by Zak Limo to Pebble Beach underneath the Brooklyn Bridge to take some photos and then on to Lincoln Center for a few closing shots. The weather was beautiful and they were given the gift of wonderful light under the bridge!
