REAL WEDDING: MAGGIE AND JOEY

Married on the same day I was, I'm totally adoring the rustic feel and attention to detail here in this April 21 wedding in Madison, Georgia.  Set at the Farmhouse Inn at Hundred Acre Farm, Maggie and Joey had a fantastic day tying the knot so lovingly captured by photographer Kate T. Parker who says, "Everyone was so happy to be there and ready for fun.  Loveit!  Maggie and Joey look like bride and groom cake toppers . . . . just a stunning couple (and so happy and in love!).  Thank you so much to the Waybrights for trusting me to capture this unbelievably gorgeous and special day . . . ."

ALL ABOUT BLING!!!!!!!!!!

I think you'll agree, one of the chicest ways of pulling yourself together on your wedding day is through exquisite jewelry.  Once restricted to pearl necklaces and earrings, brides have so many more options these days I can't count them (although a great set of pearls is always in vogue).  These two collections by Denise Hazelton and Miriam Haskell highlight vintage jewelry at it's finest.  The biggee plus here is all of it goes great with wedding fashion.  I adored these pieces and was tickled when Studiolo joined in on this project to have them photographed with my gowns for the Art Meets Fashion shoot.  Which is your fave here . . .?

CONGRATS ASHLEY AND HOWARD

June is busting out all over!  It's the month we most think of weddings and have I got one for you. Ashley Biden tied the knot with Dr. Howard Krein on Saturday June 2 in Wilmington, Delaware. Ashley is Vice President, Joe Biden's youngest daughter.  Wrapped in a Vera Wang confection of silk, the gown was a custom designed mermaid draped in tulle with a hand-cut circular organza petal skirt.  It was detailed with thread embroidered silk elements.  Not a big fan of pouf, POW! and really out there mermaid creations, I somehow love this one.  Check out how Ashley topped off her look with a chapel length Chantilly lace veil with a blusher.  Very classic.
Congrats Ashley and Howard!

LACE

The most bridal of all laces, Chantilly.  Corbin Gurkin Photography

Lace as we know it evokes images of woven florals and scalloped edges on flounced skirts and collars. Though these time-honored looks will always be with us, lately we’re seeing new spins on the use of lace in bridal wear. Not only are the traditionals like Alencon and Chantilly now used in cutting edge ways, new inventions in knit and revivals in cotton and crocheted laces are showing up. Some of it is being used discreetly on no more than a sleeve or yoke while the high drama of donning all over lace from collar to hemline is chic as well.
An Edwardian recreation that combines aspects from one of the finest eras with the contemporary bride in mind.
Doilies?  Yup, these crocheted doilies pieced together make a gorgeous fabric for dress up.  Backing it with green sure makes the lace pop!

A mix of Venise and lace apliques.  Stunning . . .
